It all started in 2006 when Etana successfully auditioned to become one of Spice’s vocalists on his of Europe and North America. While in the studio with the guitarist and percussionist for Spice’s band\, Etana put together the song “Wrong Address”; the single reached number one on several Jamaican charts. Her album “Rise” made Etana the first female artist out of Jamaica to be number one on the Reggae Billboard in 17 years. Her 2018 album\, “Reggae Forever\,” climbed to number one on the reggae billboard charts\, and Etana became the first female in over two decades to be nominated for a Grammy in the Best Reggae Album category. \nEtana describes her brand of music as reggae soul. “Overall\, my music has to uplift. It can’t just be that I go in a studio and string words together. My music must have a message\, it must have a purpose. It has to make people feel good and want to really listen to what I’m saying\,” says Etana. \nA true ambassador for Reggae music and females in the music industry\, she is relentless in spreading her message of “unconditional love” through positive music with the hope of uplifting her audience from any situation that renders them weak or hopeless.
